This venue is named after Huddie Ledbetter, also known as “Lead Belly” and revered in the music world as one of the seminal influences on modern music. The Leadbetters II was opened in the ’60s as a comfortable and downbeat place where people from all walks of life could hang out and enjoy music without prejudice. The range of acts performed at this tavern spans the historic life of modern music. Everything from modern rock, down to folk music and passing through classic rock, old-time blues, and rock-a-billy along the way is played and respected here. Throw on your most comfortably worn-out jeans and a set of beat-up leather boots, or gussy up in a suit and spats – nobody’s going to look at you askance.
This is a classic “dive” bar, the only thing lacking is the requisite smoke-laden air, as there’s no smoking. The combined effect of the furniture, pool tables, music-related memorabilia on the walls, dim lighting, and an audience that pays attention to the act creates an ambiance that is comfort conducive and tranquil. You can be rest assured that you will have the option of purchasing very affordable and tasty drinks, from a friendly but no-nonsense staff.
