Montana, at the north end of the Flathead Valley. The hub title omits the state, as several Montana pages here do.
Downtown along Main Street and the blocks either side, where the bars, breweries and restaurants sit within a short walk.
The main one. The West Glacier entrance is about forty minutes northeast, which drives the valley's summer visitor economy.
Considerably. Whitefish is fifteen minutes north with a ski resort and a busier tourist bar scene, which pulls evening trade out of Kalispell.
Sharply. Summer park traffic and winter ski traffic both fill the valley, and the shoulder months between them are noticeably quiet.
Cold but moderated. Flathead Valley winters run milder than eastern Montana, with more cloud and snow and fewer extreme cold snaps.
Missoula is larger, has the university and carries more of a year-round downtown. Kalispell trades on the park and the ski season.
