Waco’s SantaCon brings the Heart of Texas’ bar culture and Central Texas holiday spirit to one of the most Magnolia-adjacent December celebrations in the state. The Austin Avenue and the downtown Waco bar district have developed into a vibrant scene and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the Baylor Bears Big 12 energy, the Chip and Joanna Gaines cultural influence, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Waco character that is warm, family-rooted, and genuinely Heart of Texas.
Waco has been transformed in recent years partly through the Magnolia brand’s national influence and the SantaCon reflects that transformation. The Santa costume competition draws on the Baylor University community and the Waco arts and design community that Chip and Joanna inspired and the entries have a Central Texas combination of Bear pride and farmhouse-style creativity.
