Lubbock’s SantaCon brings the Hub City’s bar culture and West Texas holiday spirit to one of the most community-driven December celebrations on the Texas Plains. The downtown Lubbock and the 19th Street bar corridor have developed into a vibrant scene and when SantaCon arrives the combination of Texas Tech Red Raider energy, the West Texas music heritage rooted in Buddy Holly’s hometown, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Lubbock character that is warm, creative, and completely West Texas.
Lubbock is Buddy Holly’s hometown and the music heritage runs through the community in ways that shape every major celebration including SantaCon. The Santa costume competition draws on the Texas Tech community and the West Texas music and arts scene and the entries have a Lubbock combination of Raider Red enthusiasm and genuine creative spirit that is completely this city.
