Huntington’s SantaCon brings the Tri-State Area’s bar culture and West Virginia holiday spirit to one of the most Marshall Thundering Herd-spirited December celebrations in Appalachia. The downtown Huntington and the Fourth Avenue bar corridor are the heart of the Tri-State Area’s nightlife and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the Ohio River waterfront setting, the Marshall University community energy, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Huntington character that is warm, green-and-white spirited, and genuinely West Virginia.
Huntington is the We Are Marshall city and the SantaCon reflects that extraordinary community resilience and pride. The Santa costume competition draws on the Marshall University community and the Huntington arts scene and the entries have a West Virginia Appalachian warmth mixed with the genuine We Are Marshall spirit that makes this community special.
