Aurora Illinois’s SantaCon brings the City of Lights’ bar culture and Kane County holiday spirit to one of the most suburb-community December celebrations in the Chicago metro area. The downtown Aurora and the Galena Boulevard bar corridor have developed into a vibrant scene and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the Fox River waterfront setting, the diverse Aurora community, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with an Aurora character that is warm, diverse, and genuinely the Second City’s second city.
Aurora is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Illinois and the SantaCon reflects that multicultural vitality. The Santa costume competition draws on the Waubonsee and Aurora University communities and the diverse Aurora neighborhoods and the entries have a Kane County combination of Chicago-adjacent energy and genuine multicultural December celebration.
