Nothing yet. The 17th Street entertainment district is the one genuinely walkable bar run in the Rio Grande Valley, and no date sits against it.
17th Street, where the entertainment district concentrates bars and restaurants into a few blocks. Everything else in McAllen is a drive rather than a walk.
Better than most markets on this site. The city sits on the border and the Valley marks the date seriously, so May would be the natural hook.
Considerably. Seasonal residents arrive through autumn and stay into spring, which makes the winter months busier and older than the summer ones here.
Severely. The Rio Grande Valley runs into the high nineties with heavy humidity from June onward, which would push any date's start time later.
Only along 17th Street. The city is built around expressways and the districts do not connect on foot in any practical way.
It shapes everything. Reynosa sits directly across, and the cross-border population gives McAllen a character no other Texas hub on this site has.
Both are Valley cities with hubs here and neither carries a date. McAllen has the stronger entertainment district; Brownsville is closer to the coast.
