Boulder’s SantaCon brings the People’s Republic of Boulder’s bar culture and Colorado Front Range holiday spirit to one of the most outdoor-culture-saturated December celebrations in the country. The Pearl Street Mall and the University Hill bar districts are the heart of Boulder nightlife and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the Flatirons mountain backdrop, the CU Buffaloes community, and the exceptional local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Boulder character that is athletic, environmental, and completely Colorado Front Range. Boulder is one of the most physically fit, environmentally conscious, and independently minded cities in America and the SantaCon reflects that character. The Santa costume competition draws on the CU Boulder community and Boulder’s extraordinary concentration of outdoor athletes, tech entrepreneurs, and environmental activists and the entries have a Boulder combination of athletic creativity and the keep-it-weird Colorado spirit that is specific to this city. December in Boulder is cold with Rocky Mountain snow possible, typically ranging from 18 to 30 degrees at night. The Colorado Front Range winter is real and the Pearl Street Mall bar community provides warm, welcoming Colorado hospitality with the Flatirons illuminated by winter moonlight. Our hosts manage the Boulder route through Pearl Street Mall and the University Hill bar district.
