The Littlest Bar first opened in the 1940s on Province Street in Downtown Crossing, but has relocated to a new venue on Broad Street in the Financial District that’s just a bit larger. Not all has been forsaken. The Littlest Bar has brought a lot of treasured memorabilia from the old location, such as a letter from former Boston mayor Ray Flynn, and the original pine bar (although now it’s a bit smaller, having had a piece taken off the end and converted into a table. There is a digital jukebox that wasn’t at the old place as well as pine tables left in their natural shape. This is all exposed to beautiful brick walls and a timber-slatted ceiling. There is a wide selection of beers, wines, martinis, and margaritas here, but the real eye-opening innovation is the “Draftmaster”, a DIY beer tap that allows customers to pull their own draft! As for the food, this is Boston. The Littlest Bar achieved a win in the Boston Chowderfest as “Best of Boston,” from the Boston Magazine, for its New England clam chowder. For big appetites, the ominous-sounding “Irish Heart Attack” burger is topped with, among other things, two kinds of bacon!
