Listed in Zagat’s, Notaro’s in mid-town Manhattan has been serving authentic Italian food since 1994. The cozy interior features elegant dark wood furniture set off by crisp white linens, a large fireplace topped with a floral arrangement, and pieces from local artists are spot-lighted on the walls. The ceiling has a blue uplight for a border that adds an interesting twist and prevents the space from becoming self-important. The menu is classic Italian cuisine, prepared the traditional way and beautifully presented. The lunch menu features favorites like Gnocchi Sorrentina, served with a light tomato sauce and mozzarella; and veal-stuffed tortellini with cream, prosciutto, onions & green peas. The dinner menu features more substantial fare such as potato-crusted Tilapia in a white wine lemon sauce; chicken breast topped with eggplant, fresh tomato, and mozzarella cheese and served with a mixed-mushroom and marsala sauce; or Scalloppini alla Siciliana, a veal dish that includes black olives and sausage and served in a white wine sauce.
