Wichita’s SantaCon brings the Air Capital’s bar culture and Kansas holiday spirit to one of the most aviation-heritage December celebrations in the Great Plains. The Old Town and the Douglas Avenue bar districts are the heart of Wichita nightlife and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the Boeing and Cessna aviation heritage, the Wichita State Shockers energy, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Wichita character that is warm, community-grounded, and genuinely Kansas.
Wichita is where America’s commercial aviation industry was born and the SantaCon reflects the precision and community pride of the Air Capital. The Santa costume competition draws on the WSU community and the Wichita arts and aviation community and the entries have a Kansas combination of Midwest warmth and genuine creative enthusiasm that is completely Wichita.
