Thanksgiving Eve
Washington empties of its transient population for Thanksgiving and fills with everyone who actually lives here. The Thanksgiving Eve Bar Crawl works Dupont Circle and the U Street corridor.
Dupont holds the older bar rooms and U Street carries the music venues and the later crowd. The two sit close together on the Red and Green lines, which means the route works without a car on a night when driving is unwise.
The District is full of people from somewhere else, but a large number stay for the holiday and a large number of locals come home. Thanksgiving Eve produces a genuinely mixed room, less political and more personal than a normal DC night.
Our hosts run the route between the two districts with the stops arranged in advance. Specials are confirmed at each bar and one wristband covers every door.
