Santa Pub Crawls
Tucson’s SantaCon brings the Old Pueblo’s bar culture and Southern Arizona holiday spirit to one of the most desert-backdrop December celebrations in the Southwest. The Fourth Avenue bar district and the downtown Tucson bar corridor have developed into a vibrant scene and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the University of Arizona Wildcat energy, the saguaro cactus desert landscape, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Tucson character that is warm, creative, and completely Southern Arizona.
Tucson has one of the most distinctive bar cultures in the Southwest rooted in university energy, desert arts, and the borderlands culture that connects Tucson to Mexico and the Southwest’s indigenous heritage. The Santa costume competition draws on the UA community and the Tucson arts scene and the entries often feature desert Southwest interpretations of Santa that are creative, colorful, and completely Old Pueblo.
December in Tucson is mild and cool, typically ranging from 38 to 55 degrees at night. The Southern Arizona winter is one of the most pleasant in the country and doing SantaCon under the clear desert sky with the Catalina Mountains lit by winter moonlight creates one of the most beautiful December pub crawl settings in America.
