About
Tacoma, WA
July 4th Pub Crawls
Tacoma, Washington has spent two decades rebuilding its downtown into somewhere people actually go, and on Saturday, July 4, 2027 the official Red, White and Brew bar crawl shows the result. The route works the Theater District and the downtown core, close enough together that the night stays on foot.
The Theater District anchors it, with bars and restaurants clustered around the restored venues on Broadway and the blocks running down toward the water. Downtown adds more rooms along Pacific Avenue. Commencement Bay sits at the bottom of the hill, which gives the district a view most cities would charge extra for.
The Fourth in Tacoma is the payoff for a grey nine months. Pacific Northwest summers are short, bright and close to perfect, and the Fourth sits right in the middle of the best fortnight. The waterfront takes the day, the fireworks go up over the bay, and downtown takes the night.
In 2027 the Semiquincentennial marks 250 years of American independence. Washington’s chapter starts very late in that story: the region was still being explored in the early 1800s, Tacoma grew after being chosen as the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1873, and Washington did not become a state until 1889, one hundred and thirteen years after the Declaration.
PubCrawls.com handles the whole operation. Venues are confirmed before July 4th, drink specials are agreed with each of them, and your digital map is sent ahead of the event. Check in in the Theater District / Downtown and the Tacoma route takes over from there.
The Tacoma July 4th pub crawl draws locals from the Stadium District, Proctor and Hilltop alongside visitors from Puyallup, Lakewood, Gig Harbor and across the South Sound, plus a share coming down from Seattle for a cheaper and friendlier night.
The event is 21 and over only. Birthday groups, bachelorette parties, military crews from the surrounding bases and friend groups from across Pierce County all make the Tacoma July 4th crawl a summer fixture. Groups of 20 or more can arrange pricing in advance.
Tickets are on sale now at PubCrawls.com. Downtown Tacoma fills on the Fourth and the official pub crawl is limited. Buy early and spend America’s 250th birthday on Commencement Bay.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Tacoma July 4th Bar Crawl?
Tacoma has Saturday, July 3, 2027, 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. In early July that window sits almost entirely in daylight, since the Puget Sound sun does not set until well after nine.
How late is it light in Tacoma then?
Very late. Early July gives the Puget Sound region daylight past nine in the evening, so most of a five to eleven window here runs in broad daylight.
Which part of Tacoma does the route use?
Downtown around Pacific Avenue and the Theatre District, or the Sixth Avenue strip, are the candidates. Your confirmed check-in venue and participating lineup arrive with the ticket confirmation.
Is Freedom Fair on Ruston Way?
Tacoma's long-running Fourth of July festival takes over the Ruston Way waterfront on the holiday itself, with an air show and fireworks over Commencement Bay in the evening.
What is the weather like in Tacoma in July?
Warm and dry, usually in the mid 70s with the Pacific Northwest summer at its most reliable. Evenings cool noticeably off the water, so a layer is worth carrying.
Is downtown Tacoma walkable that evening?
Within districts, yes, though the hills are real. Pacific Avenue and the Theatre District work on foot, but the climb up toward Sixth Avenue is a genuine one.
Can I take the Link streetcar or Sounder?
The Tacoma Link runs through downtown and is useful within the core. Sounder to Seattle does not run usefully on a weekend evening, so plan the trip back separately.
Should I arrange a ride home in Tacoma?
Yes. Rideshare demand across Pierce County peaks on the holiday Saturday, and the roads around the waterfront are affected by the Freedom Fair crowds all weekend. Agree the pickup point before you set off.
