St. Petersburg, Florida has quietly built the best downtown on the Gulf coast, and on Saturday, July 4, 2027 the official Red, White and Brew bar crawl runs the length of it. The route works Central Avenue and the EDGE District, a straight walkable line through the middle of the city.
Central Avenue is the organizing principle here. The street runs west from the waterfront through the EDGE District and the Grand Central area, and bars, breweries and restaurants line it the entire way. Because it is one continuous corridor rather than scattered pockets, a crawl in St. Pete never has to double back.
The Fourth in St. Pete is a bayfront holiday. The waterfront parks and the pier carry the daytime crowd, the fireworks go up over Tampa Bay, and the evening moves inland along Central. Summer here means the best hours are after sunset, and the city plans around that.

The Tampa Bay region was Spanish territory in 1776 and did not become American until Florida was ceded in 1821, with statehood following in 1845.
