About
Salt Lake City, UT
July 4th Pub Crawls
Salt Lake City, Utah surprises people who have not been out here recently, and on Saturday, July 4, 2027 the official Red, White and Brew bar crawl makes the case. The route works Main Street and the Broadway blocks downtown, where the city’s bar scene has concentrated into a genuinely walkable grid.
Downtown Salt Lake has unusually wide streets, a legacy of the original 1847 city plan, but the bars along Main Street and the 300 South corridor sit close enough together that the route stays on foot. The scene here has grown substantially over the past decade and the cocktail rooms in particular hold up against much larger cities.
The Fourth in Salt Lake is a mountain-summer holiday. The Wasatch sits directly above the city, the canyons fill with people during the day, and the evening brings everyone back down to a downtown that stays warm long after dark. July here is dry heat rather than humidity, which makes the walking easy.
In 2027 the Semiquincentennial marks 250 years of American independence. Utah’s chapter begins much later: the Mormon pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847, seventy-one years after the Declaration, and Utah was not admitted as a state until 1896, making it one of the last contiguous territories to join the Union.
The event is run by PubCrawls.com. Bars are locked in ahead of the Fourth, the specials at each stop are set in advance, and the digital venue map goes out before the night. Arrive in Main Street / Broadway for check-in and the route does the rest.
The Salt Lake City July 4th pub crawl draws locals from downtown, Sugar House and the Avenues alongside visitors from Park City, Ogden, Provo and across the Wasatch Front who come into the city for the holiday night.
The event is 21 and over only. Birthday groups, bachelorette parties, work crews and friend groups from across the valley all make the Salt Lake July 4th crawl an annual plan. Groups of 20 or more can arrange pricing in advance.
Tickets are on sale now at PubCrawls.com. Downtown Salt Lake fills on the Fourth and the official pub crawl is limited. Buy early and mark America’s 250th birthday under the Wasatch.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Salt Lake City July 4th Bar Crawl?
The Salt Lake listing gives Saturday, July 3, 2027, 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. A five o'clock start in the valley means beginning in the full heat of a desert afternoon.
Is Pioneer Day bigger than July 4 here?
For many Utahns, yes. July 24 marks the Mormon pioneers' arrival in the valley and is a state holiday with its own parade and fireworks, which makes late July the busier stretch.
Which part of Salt Lake City does the route use?
The downtown blocks around Main Street and 300 South, where the bars concentrate. Your confirmed check-in venue and participating lineup arrive with the ticket confirmation. Everything sits inside a few large blocks.
How hot is Salt Lake City in early July?
Hot and very dry, often in the mid 90s in the late afternoon. The desert air means it cools quickly after sunset, but the five o'clock start is genuinely warm.
Does Salt Lake altitude compound the heat?
It does. Salt Lake sits above four thousand feet, so dehydration arrives faster than the dry air suggests, and alcohol lands harder than most visitors expect. Water between stops is not optional here.
Are there fireworks in Salt Lake City?
Displays run across the valley for the holiday, with Sugar House Park and the Jordan River parkway among the traditional sites. The Saturday crawl sits the evening before them.
Should I take TRAX that evening?
Worth doing. TRAX runs through downtown with several stops inside the walkable zone, which avoids both the holiday weekend parking and the surge pricing on the way home.
Is downtown Salt Lake walkable that evening?
Just about, though the blocks are famously large. The participating bars sit within the Main Street area, but a single Salt Lake City block takes noticeably longer than you expect.
