About
Richmond, VA
July 4th Pub Crawls
Richmond, Virginia has as strong a claim on the Fourth of July as any city in the country, and on Saturday, July 4, 2027 the official Red, White and Brew bar crawl runs through its best districts. The route works Shockoe Bottom and reaches toward Scott’s Addition, the two areas carrying most of the city’s nightlife.
Shockoe Bottom is the historic core of it, old tobacco warehouses along the James turned into bars and music rooms. Scott’s Addition is the newer engine, a former industrial district that has filled with breweries, cideries and cocktail bars over the last decade. The crawl takes both and the night changes character between them.
The Fourth in Richmond is humid, loud and deeply felt. The James River runs through the middle of the city and the rapids carry the daytime crowd, the historic sites are open, and the evening belongs to the bars. There is no city where the holiday sits closer to the actual history.
In 2027 the Semiquincentennial marks 250 years of American independence, and Richmond is where some of the decisive words were spoken. On March 23, 1775, at St. John’s Church on Church Hill, Patrick Henry told the Second Virginia Convention to give him liberty or give him death. Virginia moved its capital here in 1780 while the war was still being fought.
PubCrawls.com handles the whole operation. Venues are confirmed before July 4th, drink specials are agreed with each of them, and your digital map is sent ahead of the event. Check in in Shockoe Bottom / Scott’s Addition and the Richmond route takes over from there.
The Richmond July 4th pub crawl draws locals from the Fan, Church Hill and Manchester alongside visitors from Petersburg, Charlottesville, Williamsburg and across Central Virginia who come into the city for the holiday.
The event is 21 and over only. Birthday groups, bachelorette parties, work crews and friend groups from across the region all make the Richmond July 4th crawl an annual booking. Groups of 20 or more can arrange pricing in advance.
Tickets are on sale now at PubCrawls.com. Richmond’s districts fill on the Fourth and the official pub crawl is limited. Buy early and mark America’s 250th birthday a few blocks from where Patrick Henry made the case for it.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Richmond July 4th Bar Crawl?
The Richmond page shows Saturday, July 3, 2027, 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Six hours through a Virginia July evening is a long window, and the first of them is the hottest.
Does Virginia's Revolutionary history matter here?
It is difficult to avoid. Patrick Henry's speech at St. John's Church happened in Richmond, and the Commonwealth's role in the founding gives the Fourth a different weight here than in most cities.
Which part of Richmond does the route use?
Scott's Addition, the Fan along Main Street, or Shockoe Bottom are the realistic candidates. Your confirmed check-in venue and participating lineup arrive with the ticket confirmation. Scott's Addition is the shortest walk of the three.
How hot is Richmond in early July?
Hot and humid, usually in the low 90s during the afternoon with central Virginia holding the moisture. The five o'clock start is genuinely the hardest hour of the evening here.
Is Scott's Addition walkable that evening?
Yes. The district packs breweries, cideries and bars into a compact grid of former warehouses, which limits how long you spend outside between stops in that heat.
Do people float the James instead?
Many do during the day. The James River rapids run right through Richmond, and floating the river is a serious local tradition over the Fourth of July weekend.
Are there fireworks over the James?
Richmond stages holiday displays around the riverfront and Dogwood Dell on the Fourth itself, which is the Sunday. The Saturday crawl runs the evening before them. Check the programme before you plan around it.
How do I get home from Richmond that night?
Yes. Rideshare demand peaks on the holiday Saturday, and the routes out to the West End and Chesterfield are a real drive rather than anything you would walk.
