Louisville, Kentucky is a bourbon city with the bar scene to prove it, and on Saturday, July 4, 2027 the official Red, White and Brew bar crawl works its best stretch. The route runs along Whiskey Row on Main Street and out into NuLu, two districts a short walk apart on the downtown grid.
Whiskey Row is the headline. The row of nineteenth-century cast-iron buildings on West Main has been restored into distilleries, bars and restaurants, and it is the densest concentration of good drinking in the state. NuLu on East Market runs newer and more independent. The crawl uses both, which means the night covers bourbon heritage and modern cocktail rooms in the same evening.
The Fourth in Louisville is a river holiday. The Ohio runs along the northern edge of downtown and the waterfront carries the crowd through the day, with Indiana directly across the water. When the light goes the crowd turns south into the bars and Main Street fills up.
In 2027 the Semiquincentennial marks 250 years of American independence, and few American cities are tied to that war more directly. Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark as a base for his Revolutionary campaign in the west, and it was named for Louis XVI of France, whose alliance with the colonies helped decide the outcome.
