Jersey City’s SantaCon brings the Gold Coast’s bar culture and Hudson County holiday spirit to one of the most NYC-skyline-view December celebrations in the country. The Journal Square and the Grove Street bar districts are the heart of Jersey City nightlife and when SantaCon arrives the combination of the Manhattan skyline view from the Hudson waterfront, the Jersey City arts and tech community, and the excellent local bars creates a holiday celebration with a Jersey City character that is urban, vibrant, and completely the Gold Coast.
Jersey City has transformed from New York’s overlooked neighbor into one of the most vibrant and creative cities in the tristate area and the SantaCon reflects that transformation. The Santa costume competition draws on the New Jersey City University community and the Jersey City arts and tech community and the entries have a Gold Coast combination of NYC-adjacent energy and genuine Jersey pride.
December in Jersey City is cold, typically ranging from 22 to 32 degrees at night. The Hudson County winter is real and the Grove Street bar community provides the warm, welcoming New Jersey hospitality with the Manhattan skyline creating one of the most spectacular December SantaCon backdrops in the country.
