Atlantic City, NJ
Halloween Pub Crawls
Atlantic City does not need Halloween to feel like a party town, but it uses the excuse well. The Atlantic City Halloween Bar Crawl puts a costume crowd on a route of participating bars along the Boardwalk area, where casinos, beachfront hotels and nightlife sit within walking distance of each other.
The crowd comes from Philadelphia, South Jersey, North Jersey and New York, with bus and train riders arriving through the day and weekenders who already booked a hotel room. That mix gives the night a different feel than a college-town crawl: more groups of friends, more bachelorette and birthday crews, more people who planned a full weekend.
Late October on the Jersey coast brings a cold, salty wind off the ocean and a Boardwalk with a lot fewer people than in summer. Dress for wind, because the Boardwalk is the most exposed part of the night. Costumes that stay put in a gust do better than anything with a long cape. A hat that survives a gust is worth more than a prop that does not. Pack a warm layer for the ride back to your hotel too.
One ticket packs a wristband, a digital map and specials at participating bars. Check in with your photo ID, then follow the map along the route. The confirmation email names the starting venue and lists which bars are included, so you know the plan before you leave the hotel room.
