About
Ann Arbor, MI
Memorial Day Bar Crawl
Ann Arbor in late May belongs to the people who live there rather than the forty thousand who leave in April. The Memorial Day Weekend Bar Crawl works the Main Street side of downtown.
Main and the Liberty blocks hold the polished end of the bar scene, close enough together to move between in a couple of minutes. The streets off them add more rooms without extending the route.
Late May in Southeast Michigan is warm with long evenings and the sidewalk tables fully out. The downtown fills early on a long weekend and the crowd reads local rather than transient.
Our hosts run the Main Street route with the stops set beforehand. Specials are agreed at each bar and one wristband covers every door.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Ann Arbor Memorial Day Weekend Bar Crawl?
Ann Arbor without students is a very different town, and this long-weekend crawl works the participating Main Street bars on one wristband with a digital map and after-party access.
When does the Ann Arbor Memorial Day crawl run?
Saturday, May 23, 2026, 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Michigan's commencement is long finished by then, so downtown is running on residents rather than the campus population.
Is Ann Arbor quiet over the long weekend?
Considerably. With the University of Michigan finished for the year, downtown carries a fraction of its term-time volume, which a good many locals openly prefer. Shorter waits everywhere are the obvious upside.
What is late May weather like in Ann Arbor?
Genuinely pleasant, usually in the 70s through the afternoon and cooling into the 50s after dark. It is among the best stretches of weather Michigan produces all year.
Is this the start of patio season in Ann Arbor?
Effectively. Late May is when Main Street commits to outdoor seating properly, so the early hours of the route are about the patios rather than the rooms inside.
Do people leave Ann Arbor for the weekend?
A great many head north to the lakes, which is close to a statewide tradition on this particular weekend. The result is a smaller and more local downtown crowd.
Does the Monday holiday change the Ann Arbor night?
It does. Knowing Monday is free, the crowd stays out later, and the final stops on the Main Street route run busier than an ordinary Saturday would produce.
What is the Ann Arbor crowd like that weekend?
Older and more settled than in term time. Without the student volume, the downtown reads like a proper small city rather than a campus with bars attached to it.
