Situated in the Gramercy neighborhood, the Copper Door is named not just for the copper-colored door, but also for the copper-colored everything else, including the ceiling and the light fixtures that hang over the well-used wooden bar. What isn’t actually copper colored is in a hue that complements it, such as the exposed brick walls. Candles enhance the entire look. It is a good look for a sports bar that’s popular with the young professionals. Young people flood this place on the weekends for the $12 pitcher special. The menu is comfort food done well, especially the Shepherd’s Pie and the Pigs in a Blanket. Television screens are situated throughout the bar, such that you’re sure to catch the action. If you are a die-hard sports fan it is best to hit the back dining room if someone hasn’t beaten you to it (this room has a huge projection screen!) If you’re more into participation, there’s Buck Hunter. During this week, the bar is a popular watering hole with locals. On the weekends, the DJ breaks out the Top 40 and hip-hop and the place starts jumping. There are beer specials all day everyday at Copper Down Tavern. These specials include pints of Land Shark or Miller Lite for $3 and Miller Lite pitchers for $10.
