Plug Uglies Club
257 3rd Avenue, 20th & 21st St, New York, NY 10010
Venue Information
After fourteen years in business, Plug Uglies Social Club (named for a New York gang from the 1850s) is still considered one of the best sports bars in New York to catch pro sports if you’re not into all the bells and whistles and gimcracks. They do fly the Ravens flag, but is otherwise completely non-partisan leaving you free to cheer for your own team. They are an unabashedly sports bar – you’re free to bring your own food but the extensive menu of fifty beer labels absolutely makes up for it. Show up at 1pm Monday through Friday and stay for Happy Hour, which ends at seven and features four bucks for bottled Bud, Bud Light, Miller High Life, and Coors Light; four bucks for draft Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite; and four bucks for mixed Well drinks. Feel like a tour of the world in beer? The beer menu covers everything from IPA to dark German bock and all the points between. The interior is definitely pub-ish but it’s not pretentious or overbearing. There’s even a pool table and one of the only full-sized shuffleboard games in the city if you’re looking to kill time before the game starts.
